WECNY and Columbia Business School
Women’s Executive Circle of New York (WECNY) has collaborated with Columbia Business School to help improve the standing of women in business leadership positions. Together, we have conducted a series of quantitative research studies that evaluates the state of women in executive positions in the top 100 public companies headquartered in NY. The most recent study, the fifth in a series of annual reports, 2015 New York Census: The State of Women Business Leaders In New York, has been made available to the NY business community and state and city legislators and policymakers.

WECNY's Top 25
We looked at NY's 100 largest publicly traded companies and identified the Top 25 - companies with at least 20% women board directors and executive officers.
Our data reveals generally that although some progress has been made, women remain an untapped resource in NY boardrooms and executive suites. 2015 New York Census ResultsBoard Directors and Executive Officers:
- Women hold 18.7% of board director and executive officer positions in New York's 100 largest public companies.
- Of the 1,095 board seats studied, 20.5% are held by women, an increase from 18.7% in 2012.
- Of the 338 C-suite executive positions studied (CEO, CFO, COO, CIO, and GC), 12.7% are held by women, a 1.8% increase from 2012.
- Since 2006, the percentage of women serving on boards has steadily increased from 15.6% to 20.5%.
- Women in executive positions decreased from 11.7% in 2010 to 10.9% in 2013, but has since rebounded to 12.7%.
